It is an innovative and introspective project that combines art, psychotherapy, and parts-work therapy to transform one’s relationship with the neglected and rejected parts of the self. Inspired by methods from the Internal Family Systems (IFS) model, this workshop provides a unique approach to self-connection, allowing participants to access, engage, and ultimately reshape their perceptions of these “troublesome” aspects. Participants carve an image into a soft surface that symbolizes a part of themselves they’ve struggled to accept or acknowledge. Through this carving process, they confront and honor the emotions that arise, initiating a powerful journey of re-connection.
The carved image is then printed onto an everyday object—such as a plant pot, diary, or t-shirt—chosen for its frequent use, fostering regular interactions with the symbolic part. This ritual of encountering the carved image encourages participants to gradually build a new, healthier relationship with that part of themselves, ultimately supporting emotional healing and self-acceptance. Through the medium of traditional printmaking adapted for clay and other materials, participants engage deeply with themes of femininity, identity, and cultural challenges, as well as personal experiences of trauma. This project extends beyond individual growth, evolving into a community-driven activity where participants are guided through creative processes to explore and redefine complex emotions and beliefs.
